Margaret trained as a mental health nurse before completing an arts degree and has a PhD from the University of Melbourne (Department of Psychiatry) and a Master of Science (Health Policy and Administration) plus a Masters of Bioethics.
Margaret Grigg is an is an experienced health professional with extensive experience in senior leadership roles. In 2023, she was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her services to mental health and in 2017 was named as one of Victoria’s top 50 Public Sector Women.

Professional roles have included CEO Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare), Executive Director of Health Services Policy and Commissioning at the Victorian Department of Health and COO at Mind Australia. 

Margaret is a non-executive Director of several Boards including, Mind Australia, Colac Health and Health Share Victoria and an expert advisor to the Orygen’s Quality and Safety Board subcommittee. She is on several government committees including Chair, Interdisciplinary Clinical Advisory Committee supporting the implementation of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
