Professor Catherine Bennet is Distinguished Professor in Epidemiology at Deakin University, and an experienced academic leader working in the higher education industry. Skilled in Epidemiology, Quantitative Research, Science, and University Teaching.

Professor Catherine Bennet is Distinguished Professor and Foundation Chair in Epidemiology at Deakin University, and an experienced Board member. She currently holds board positions at WaterNSW Board and Deakin University Council, and formerly with the National Centre for Farmer Heath and the Council of Academic Public Health Institutions Australasia.

Catherine is one of Australia’s leading experts on infectious disease epidemiology and became a national voice of the COVID-19 pandemic, advisor to industry, governments, and institutions globally, and was subsequently appointed to the COVID-19 pandemic response inquiry panel commissioned by the Prime Minister. She has served as an expert witness in the courts, industrial relations hearings and for coronial inquiries, and contributed to scientific boards including the Moderna Combined Vaccine Independent Advisory Group and Novavax Covid-Vaccine Booster Advisory Board Australia.

Catherine remains a passionate teacher and has received numerous accolades for her teaching over the years, including an esteemed Australian Award for University Teaching Excellence.
