Professor Ajai Verma is an experienced and values-driven healthcare executive. He has worked in senior management roles across the public and private healthcare sector and is currently Chief Medical Officer of Barwon Health.

Professor Verma is Chief Medical Officer of Barwon Health, one of Australia’s largest regional tertiary health services, with responsibility for over 1200 doctors, and services across clinical governance, medical workforce, research, public health, primary care and many more.

Ajai is an experienced Board Director across the public and private sectors, with expertise spanning healthcare delivery, corporate governance, strategic services planning, digital transformation, stakeholder management, risk management and quality improvement.

He holds an Affiliate Professorial appointment with Deakin University and fellowships with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA), the Australasian College of Health Service Management (FCHSM) and the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH), the Royal Society for Public Health and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Ajai is also a Certified Health Executive (CHE) and is in the final stages of completing a Senior Executive MBA at Melbourne Business School.
