
Clare Morton
Clare is a Board Member of Victorian Legal Aid, and Chairperson of the Coronial Council of Australia. She was formerly a senior executive at the Magistrates Court of Victoria, Acting CEO and Executive Officer at the Coroners Court of Victoria, and Director, Community Operations and Victims Support Agency at the Department of Justice (now DJCS).
She is also the President and a founding Executive Director of Refugee Legal, an independent non-profit legal centre specialising in refugee and immigration law.
Clare has extensive and broad-ranging experience as a legal and policy professional within both the legal and government sectors. She has contributed to significant reform for victims in the criminal justice system.
Clare holds Law and Social Work degrees from the University of Melbourne and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD.)
She received a Justice Award in 2007 for her outstanding leadership during Victoria’s statewide bushfires.
