Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine logo

The Institute Library has a focussed, comprehensive and unique Forensic collection of books, reports, videos, articles, etc supporting the core functions of the Institute, including teaching and research.

The main areas with comprehensive coverage are Forensic Pathology, Clinical Forensic Medicine, Forensic Odontology (Dentistry), Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Entomology, Forensic Toxicology, as well as Medical Law, Human Rights, Medical Ethics, Donor Tissue Transplantation, etc.

These resources are supplemented with access to a network of affiliated information sources worldwide.

The Library's book and journal holdings are supplied to the Kinetica database at the National Library, and Inter Library Loans may be arranged through any organisational Library.

Access:

The Library facilities and services are available to the staff of the Institute and the Coroners Court, Postgraduate students attending the Institute and visiting medical/research staff.

The Library is also available (for consultation only) to Researchers, Lawyers and other professionals at the discretion of the Librarian and only by prior arrangement with the Librarian. Photocopying facilities are available at a charge.

External clients:

The Library may provide information services for external organisations and individual professionals on a fee for service basis.

Hours of Opening:

Monday-Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm, only when the Librarian is in attendance.
