Analytical Services
The Toxicology laboratory can test for a wide range of drugs and poisons.
These include:
- Alcohol (blood or urine by GC-FID)
- Drugs of Abuse screen (blood or urine)
- Amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine and opiates by EMIT (urine) or ELISA (blood)
- Full drug screen (blood or urine by GC/MS/NPD. Includes basic drugs i.e. amphetamines, antidepressants, benzodiazepines, non opiate narcotics, codeine, etc.
- Acidic/neutral drug screen (blood only by HPLC/DAD. Includes paracetamol, theophylline, NSAIDS, some diuretics, antidiabetics, some benzodiazepines, etc
- Confirmation tests (blood or urine for amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates by GC/MS)
- Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (blood by GC/MS)
- 11-Carboxy-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (blood or urine by GC/MS)
- Targeted Drugs (i.e., methdaone, clozapine, citalopram etc)
- Drugs in hair
