Clinical Services
Patient Services
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine provides a range of clinical patient services focused around the practice of forensic medicine. Our doctors receive referrals from a number of other medical specialists, healthcare agencies, goverment organisations, courts and legal practitioners.
Our patients include individuals who may be victims of alleged crimes or alleged offenders both in Australia and overseas. While many of our patients will be individuals who are already involved with a police investigation others may not yet have reported incidents to police. The family members of deceased persons who have concerns regarding inheritable diseases and their own health can speak to our doctors and nurses who can provide initial advise and referral to appropriate medical specialists. Our medical staff can also provide interpretation of pathological (autopsy) findings to family doctors and their patients.
All our patients can expect the very highest level of confidentiallity regarding the assessments and care we provide.
Details regarding the patient services (clinical) we provide can be found here.
