Forensic pathology services

Forensic pathologists provide a wide variety of services to a number of organizations, agencies and individuals in the community.

Medicolegal Advice

Forensic pathologists are able to provide specialist medico-legal advice regarding injuries, diseases and the causes and circumstances of death.

Expert Opinions

Whilst much of our everyday work involves providing services for the State Coroner, we also provide specialist medico-legal examinations and opinions for agencies and individuals unrelated to the coroners system.  Much of the pathologist's work in this area is undertaken for legal representatives of individuals such as Solicitors and Barrister's who require expert advice and opinion regarding civil or criminal matters.

Writing on the subject of forensic pathology

In addition to this private service work, forensic pathologist's provide advice for other individuals not directly involved in the legal system.  These individuals include novelists, script writers, script editors and researchers for public media who may require specialist forensic knowledge in order to carry out their work.
