Forensic Scientific Services
The Forensic and Scientific Services division of VIFM carries forensic scientific services for Victoria both as an integral part of the work of the forensic pathologist for the coroner and also to provide services to the wider Victorian community.
Clinical Forensic Medicine
Clinical Forensic Medicine (CFM) is a medical specialty which deals with the interaction of clinical medicine and law. Our doctors have training in a range of medical specialties including emergency medicine, general practice and sexual health.
Medico-Legal Death Investigation
VIFM’s Medico-Legal Death Investigation service provides detailed medical information about deaths to the Coroner’s Court, families, Victoria Police, legal and medical practitioners.
Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria
The Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria is Australia’s only tissue bank which screens donors, processes, stores, tests and distributes multiple types of tissue from the one facility. It is a public sector not-for-profit organisation.

The Ned Kelly Project
Scientists at the VIFM have identified the body of notorious bush ranger, Ned Kelly.
