Tree of LifeIf you wish to donate, it will help to register as a tissue and/or organ donor on the Australian Organ Donor Register. But do not avoid telling your family as your next of kin will be asked to make the final decision about you becoming a donor, even if you are registered. It is important that he or she is aware of your wishes before an emergency arises.

To register your wish to be considered for donation and included on an Australia-wide computer database, please call the Australian Organ Donor Register on 1800-777-203 or visit their website at  http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/public/services/aodr/index.shtml

Decide in Life, Donate in Death

Tree of Life

The Tree of Life is a mural of a stylised tree to which leaves of differing colours are attached.  The tree has a range of green, yellow and red leaves reflecting the cycle of seasons and grief responses.  The leaves bear the first name of each tissue donor and are placed on the tree at the end of each month.  Twelve months later the tree is full of donor leaves, reflecting the vast contribution donors and their families have made over the previous year.

Tree Leaves (2)A photograph of the tree and the leaf belonging to the donor will be given to each family as a tribute to their generosity.

We welcome and encourage families to come and see the Tree of Life with their loved ones leaf attached. Please feel free to contact one of our transplant coordinators to arrange a suitable time for your visit.
