The Institute’s success depends on the strength of our working relationships with those to whom we report and with our partners: the Attorney-General and the Department of Justice, Monash University, the Victorian Courts especially the State Coroner and Coroners Court of Victoria (CCOV), the University of Melbourne, the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Victoria Police, the legal and medical professions and many others.

We serve the broader public interest with a particular focus on legal and medical services. In this regard we work closely with other doctors and lawyers and have regular engagement with public and private health services and the courts. Our medical practitioners also have a leading role to play in the maintenance of public health and services for our patients and their families are uppermost in our service planning and quality reviews.
