Becoming a Donor

Anyone can be considered for suitability as a tissue donor. If you are having a hip replacement, speak to your surgeon about the possibility of bone donation. If you wish to donate after your death, it will help if you register as a tissue and/or organ donor on the Australian Organ Donor Register. More importantly tell your family and friends today and before it is too late as your next of kin will be asked to make the final decision about you becoming a donor, even if you are registered. This will make their decision at a difficult time so much easier.

To register your wish to be considered for donation and be included on an Australia-wide computer database and for more information about donation, visit DonateLife via their website at http://www.donatelife.gov.au/.
