2008 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Coronial Services Centre(CSC) in Southbank, the home of the VIFM and the State Coroners Office. As part of the anniversary year, two main events have been planned:

  • 20th anniversary celebrations and a book launch by the Governor of Victoria

  • The VIFM Oration

    20th Anniversary

    When: Friday 1st August, 2008.
    Location: Melbourne, Australia.   

    On August 1, there was a launch, by The Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Kretser, A.C., of books celebrating twenty years of achievement in Injury and Death Prevention at the CSC and the Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria. Activities included an historical display and speakers including the Director of the VIFM, Professor Stephen Cordner and the Victorian State Coroner, Judge Jennifer Coate.

    VIFM Oration

    When: 5pm, Wednesday 8th October, 2008.
    Location: Melbourne, Australia

    Every three years, the VIFM organises an oration with an international speaker invited to address the VIFM community and interested members of the public. The 2008 VIFM Oration, at 5pm on Wed 8th October, was a public lecture scheduled within the 19th Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS) Symposium program.

    The Oration: "The Inquiry into Paediatric Forensic Pathology in Ontario, Canada: Some Reflections" was delivered by the Commissioner, The Honourable Justice Stephen Goudge of the Court of Appeal, Ontario.
