April 17th 2014

It wasn’t quite an unveiling. In fact it was more of a snipping or cutting exercise, but either way, Bruce Esplin’s fabulous bronze sculpture The Gift was well and truly launched today by the Attorney General, The Hon Robert Clark MP at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine today.

The amazing sculpture which depicts two hands in the act of giving and receiving perfectly depicts the act of generosity which is illustrated each time a deceased person donates valuable tissue to a grateful recipient. In time it will be relocated to the outside of the new Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria in Moore St and become one of the many pieces of public art which graces Melbourne’s CBD.
