Three Cheers for Research!

December 5th 2013

All of us at VIFM are proud as punch at the news that Professor Olaf Drummer, Dr Eva Saar and Luke Rodda all picked up awards at last night”s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Awards Night.

  • Olaf Drummer – “Excellence in Higher Degree Research Supervision”
  • Eva Saar – “Doctoral Thesis Excellence”
  • Luke Rodda – “Best Paper – Early Career Researcher”

The purpose of the awards night is to recognise and share the success of research, teaching and support staff in the SPHPM Faculty. The event, which was held at the Alfred Centre, was hosted by Professor Christina Mitchell (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences) with special guest, Lindy Burns (ABC Radio) and was well attended by faculty staff and students.

The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine supports research as an essential complement to the operation of its forensic medical and scientific services. Research activities are managed through the Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM) at Monash University which provides the infrastructure and support.

Therefore, this is a wonderful result, not only for Olaf, Eva and Luke, but for the Department of Forensic Medicine and VIFM as a whole.
