MOU paves the way for joint projects with AFP

The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) and the Australian Federal Police  (AFP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding  which outlines areas for institutional cooperation and collaboration in Australia and overseas. Areas for collaboration include professional staff exchange; operational forensic medicine and scientific services in the Asia Pacific and other regions as opportunities arise, research and cooperation in international Disaster Victim Identification response and capacity development. VIFM and the AFP have a long history of working together in international disaster events and in forensic capacity development initiatives in resource poor nations in Africa, South East Asia and the Pacific Region. VIFM Director Professor Stephen Cordner said, “VIFM is delighted to re-new this MOU with the Australian Federal Police which paves the way for joint projects leveraging the complementary forensic expertise of the two organisations in new and innovative ways.”
